Chuck Nankivell, Mr. New Jersey Leather 2007, was born and raised in northern New Jersey. His initial entree to the New York & New Jersey Leather scene was under the care, training and mentoring of two Old Guard Leathermen. Chuck credits their care and training with saving him from the first wave of the HIV/AIDS blight of the late 80’s, early 90’s.

Chuck is very active in the New Jersey Leather Community and also involved with leather community events and education in New York, Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. He is currently President of the Argonauts, NJ, a gay men’s leather fraternity based in Asbury Park, NJ.

Since earning the title of Mr. New Jersey Leather 2007 last October, Chuck has focused his efforts within New Jersey’s Leather Community and continues to reach out to other leatherfolk through the Internet, Social Networking Communities and preferably face-to-face wherever Leatherfolk are gathering.

Recently, he initiated a project using Internet and other grass roots resources to reach out to independent leatherfolk with the goal of starting a series of local Leather socials throughout the state: The underlying objective being to create a stronger bond among New Jersey’s Leatherfolk and to shape mentors and leaders for our future.
